Summer Fun & Seasonal Tips

Summer Fun & Seasonal Tips

May and June have been filled with many family visitors, events, and travel.   Last summer I started making my bug repellant sprays with essential oils and found them very effective.  Here are DIY options and dōTERRA readymade solutions for when you are on the go and need seasonal options for being in the outdoors or afterwards.

Citronella Bug Repellant DIY
Ingredients:
2- to 4- ounce glass spray bottle
20 drops Citronella essential oil
10 drops essential oil (your choice of Cedarwood, Arborvitae, Lemongrass, Spearmint, or Peppermint)
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Instructions:
1) Combine the essential oils in the spray bottle and top off with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Shake well before each use.

Recently when on a trip to Northern California, I wish I had remembered my TerraShield. It is the perfect travel size.  My ankles and legs got so bitten up!  On another note, although I used Lavender and Tea Tree to help with the itching, my mom suggested making a paste with Baking Soda and water.  Rubbing that on the bites also gave me great relief.

Respiratory Support
Here in the south, we live with some intense humidity over the summer.  I have found that on my early morning walks, if I use my Breathe Touch on the back of my neck and chest, it makes breathing easier for me.  Another Breathe item that has become a favorite of mine this summer are the Breathe Respiratory Drops.  These have also helped tremendously in providing support during my morning walks, in air-conditioned buildings where the air is dry, and when traveling.  And I do not want to forget mentioning TriEase Softgels.  This is a softgel that consists of a combination of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint to help with seasonal issues.  Another option, what I tend to commonly do, is make a veggie capsule with 3 – 4 drops each of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint supplemental essential oils.  Finally, you can diffuse equal amounts of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint throughout your home and office space to also help combat seasonal respiratory issues and freshen the air.

Which of these items might work best for you?

Skin Care
Yesterday, I spent the day at the waterpark with my niece.  After a great time and long day in the sun, I came home and realized my skin was very dry.  So, I turned to a couple of my favorite moisturizers.  First, I applied dōTERRA’s Essentials Hydrating Cream to my face.   This is my go-to in the winter.  Then I used the Spa dōTERRA Body Mist.  I love how moisturizing this is, and the scent is lovely since it includes dōTERRA’s Beautiful Captivating Blend.

Frankincense is known for reducing the appearance of skin imperfections.  I have met several people who rubbed it on their forearms and hands, to find that it did reduce the brown spots from the sun.   Several months ago, before going to bed I started using Immortelle, the Anti-aging Blend or Frankincense on the tops of my hands.  I started seeing dark spots appearing, and as with many other things in life, catching something in the beginning stages is the best way to manage it.  I have already started to see the spots on my hands going away!  Additionally, I apply Immortelle around the bottom of my eyes at night before bedtime for the dark circles and puffiness. Keep in mind, Immortelle is a blend that contains numerous oils that support and nourish the skin.  It is potent, so a little goes a long way, and you will find this 10 ml bottle to last a long time.  Add a few drops to your daily moisturizer or make a rollerball with coconut oil, that is what I do.

Diffusing makes the difference throughout my home and office!  It still amazes me how the aromatherapy benefits kick in!
This Sweet Summer blend is commonly what I diffuse in my kitchen and living room.   Enjoy!
